Utah is located in the Rocky Mountains in the West of the United States. The rocky mountains are known as the wasatch front in Utah. Utah is a diverse center for all types of geological activity. The state of Utah boasts many beautiful and wooded mountains, streams, lakes and valley's, sand dunes, slot canyons, caves, canyons, waterfalls, salt flats and any other natural phenomenom that you might be looking for.

Historically Utah was inhabited by the Fremont and Anasazi culture peoples followed by the native american Gosiute, Paiute and Ute tribes. Mexico was the original owner of the land now known as Utah. In 1847 pioneers made up mostly of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints came on the deadly trek across the plains to settle in the Salt Lake Valley, which was a dessert at the time. Utah was purchased by the United State in 1848, it wasn't made a state until 1896. In the early 1900's Utah was beginning to be recognized as an area to experience natures natural beauty. Initially Bryce Canyon and Zion Nation Park were established with plenty of hiking, waterfalls, slot canyons and camping available including; the subway, calves creek and many other popular attractions, obviously they have become more popular and accessible to the puplic over time. Soon to follow was the Arches National park with the Delicate Arch, the Grand Canyon and many more.

Alta Ski Resort was the first of its kind in Utah starting in 1939, since that time the snow skiing industry in Utah has taken flight, people come world wide to ski on and in the best powder in the world. The whole world did come to Utah to Salt Lake City Utah for the 2002 Winter Olympics, many events were held in the surrounding areas including Snow Basin Ski Resort for the downhill and super G, Ogden for Curling, Heber for the cross country skiing, etc.

Utah has also developed over the past decade a commuter transit system that is one of the best in the world, with new freeway paths and a light rail system that heads North and South along the Wasatch Front.

Currently Utah boasts all types of recreation imaginable from, snow skiing, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, ice fishing, etc. to water skiing, hiking through slot canyons and waterfalls as well as kayaking and river rafting.

Natures beauty has been a draw for new comers to Utah for years which is evident by Utah's continual population growth. The suburbs have seen an explosion of growth that seems to go up and down as far as the rate of growth is concerned but never stops. In the 1970s, growth was phenomenal in the suburbs. Sandy was one of the fastest-growing cities in the country at that time. And West Valley City is the states 2nd most populace city, UtahToday, many areas of Utah are seeing phenomenal growth. Northern Davis, southern and western Salt Lake, Summit, eastern Tooele, Utah, Wasatch, and Washington counties are all growing very quickly.

Utah has 2 professional sports teams. The Utah Jazz, made famous by coach Jerry Salon and John Stockton and Karl Malone. Real Salt Lake, who has ties to Real Madrid's international team, Real won the MLS championship game in 2009. Utah also has some minor league teams, the Utah Grizzlies in ice hockey and the Salt Lake City Buzz for baseball.
